Collection: 4. Baby & Youth Clothing

What is "Vulture Culture"? In short, it's an appreciation for the natural world, including respectfully finding beauty in remains such as bones. Vulture Culture can even be appreciated as a vegan interest, as it is an observation of the natural cycle of life and death, but does not involve causing harm to any living animal.

I frequently walk out in wild open places, and I find the skeletal remains of prey left by the hawks, eagles, and owls. These bones are typically that of prairie dogs, voles, and mice. On rare occasion, I might come across deer & antelope bones, shed antlers, and predator bones from coyote or fox. I collect some of these bones to make crafts. I always make certain that I am leaving more than I take, as the bones & remains provide nutrients such as calcium to local animals and to plants as they slowly return to the soil over the course of years. I am also always conscious of and respectful of any insects that may be on or around the bones, thou most of what I collect has been bare & clean for a significant amount of time.

I make art from some of the bones I collect- for me, this is a way of honoring the vessel that once held life. This type of art is not for everyone, and that is a thousand percent ok. We each have our own individual ways of looking at and dealing with death, and honoring the dead. To me, every bone I touch, from the tiniest mouse to the dropped antler of a moose, reminds me how precious and vibrant life is, and how beautifully and perfectly each living being is designed to thrive in their niche.

I am going to offer some of my Vulture Culture créations for sale, and all proceeds will go to help support the beautiful living beings at MMR. All items in my VC art are collected legally and respectfully, with respectful consideration to the ecosystem they were found in. Some items in this section, such as the bottles of Nico fur, are obviously not collected from remains. Nico's shed fur is collected from spots in his enclosure where he scratches & shimmies- it is not collected directly from him. Each VC item will include a description of the circumstances of collection.
